I have been guiding myself through life since birth so somewhere between 2 and 3 decades.
At REI since:
What type of tours do you usually guide?
The epic adventurous ones…mostly multi-day tours.
I decided to run away and become a glacier-trekking/heli-hiking guide in Alaska once (because what else does one do after a breakup?) and it turned out to be one of the best decisions of my life…once I actually learned how to dress for the cold that is…apparently “cotton kills” is a real thing outside of the 115 degree Arizona heat. Who knew?
What do you love most about guiding/working in adventure travel?
There’s nothing like hanging out with a bunch of like-minded adventure seekers that can match your stoke level.
