Fairy Falls Day Hike
Experience some of Yellowstone’s geothermal features on this incredible day hike to a 200 ft tall Fairy Falls, one of the most magnificent waterfalls in Yellowstone! This out and back hiking tour begins at the Fairy Falls Trailhead, hiking 2.5 miles to Fairy Falls and returns the same way for a total of 5 miles. With a quick detour to visit the Grand Prismatic Spring overlook we get a bird’s-eye view of the second largest, and arguably the most beautiful, hot spring in the world. Admire the vivid orange-yellow-green hues of this natural wonder before moving on towards Fairy Falls. Here, the trail enters a landscape in transition. A series of wildfires in 1988 burned this area dramatically, consuming much of the once-thick lodgepole pine forest. While it looks devastated at first glance, the landscape is actually full of life and new growth in the wake of the fire. The hike continues on to Fairy Falls, where Fairy Creek plunges gracefully over the Madison Plateau. Enjoy a delicious trail lunch prepared by your guide during a break beside the peaceful pool below the falls.
